Nothing is Carl Pei’s latest venture after leaving OnePlus late last year, and we have already covered and article here. Pei previously hinted that audio accessories would be a priority for the company. Pei has confirmed to Bloomberg that one of the first things Nothing can make is a wireless earbud. The executive noted that after the initial launch, other versions would follow shortly afterwards.
“We’re building a smart device ecosystem,” Pei said in a news outlet. “We’re beginning with simpler goods, wireless earbuds. We’re going to have a range of products during the year, not just audio products, and ultimately we want to develop it so that these devices can speak to each other.”
It remains to be seen whether we will get true wireless earbuds like the Pixel Buds or OnePlus Bullets Wireless set, or just wired earbuds. Nonetheless, the market is crowded, and any new entrant would need to be of outstanding value to stand out from the pack.
At what point does nothing stand out? Unfortunately, Pei declined to give any explicit examples when asked by Bloomberg about the new firm’s products.
