A couple of new leaks about the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 (Galaxy Watch4) and Galaxy Watch Active 4 (Watch Active4) have revealed some additional information about the famous South Korean OEM’s next generation of smartwatches. The most recent tidbit, shared on Twitter by Tron, reveals eight entries for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch Active 4 in a Korean telecommunications carrier’s database. The unlocked models have four entries, while the carrier-specific variants have four.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch Active 4 Model Names
- Watch Active4: SM-R865N, 39 mm
- Watch Active4: SM-R875N, 43 mm
- Watch4: SM-R885N, 41 mm
- Watch4: SM-R895N, 45 mm
In addition to these information, Tron has revealed that neither the Galaxy Watch 4 nor the Watch Active 4 will have a non-invasive blood glucose level sensor. Many smartwatch fans would be disappointed, as they had hoped for one of the major tech companies to release a wearable with such a useful sensor.
Apart from the lack of a blood sugar monitor, it appears that both the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 4 will run on WearOS. This has been speculated for a long time, with scavenged data suggesting that Tizen will be dropped for the Galaxy Watch and Watch Active devices in 2021. However, there is some good news, as the same tipster (who obtained the details from the Korean-language site Money Today) claims that the latest Samsung smartwatches will be launched in July or August.
