Oppo Reno 5 Pro+, the top-of-the-line edition of the Reno 5 series, will be released in China on 24 December. The company confirmed some information about the Reno 5 Pro+, but not everything is officially known. Only the reports have hinted at what this smartphone is going to come with. Now, ahead of tomorrow’s formal launch, the Reno 5 Pro+ was posted on China’s e-commerce website, revealing more specification while reaffirming the concept. A live video of the Reno 5 Pro+ has also leaked.
One of the leading e-commerce websites in China, JD.com classified Reno 5 Pro+ before tomorrow’s launch. The listing announces that the pre-orders for the upcoming Oppo smartphone will begin on December 24. However, the shipping information for the device are not given on the website. This also means that we’re going to have to wait for Oppo to announce these stuff at the Reno 5 Pro+ launch event tomorrow. The JD.com list also states that the Reno 5 Pro+ will be available in two RAM and storage configurations. One has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while the other has 12 gigs of RAM and 256GB of storage.
Interestingly, the listing on JD.com also indicates that the Reno 5 Pro+ would cost CNY 9.999, although this seems to be more of a placeholder. This is a pretty high price and is far from the range that the other two Reno 5 Series smartphones are available for in China. Oppo released the Reno 5 at the starting price of CNY 2,699 (roughly Rs 30,400) while the Reno 5 Pro begins at CNY 3,399, which is approximately Rs 38,300. If these prices are something to go by, the Reno 5 Pro+ could just touch the 5,000 mark, but it won’t cost too much. Anyway, we’re going to know the whole picture at the launch of Reno 5 Pro+ tomorrow.
The hand-held video of the Reno 5 Pro+ shows the textured finish on the back of the handset, along with four cameras on the top inside the rectangular island. The smartphone has “Reno Glow” written on the side, just like some other Reno-series smartphones do. Unfortunately, the video doesn’t reveal what the system monitor and interface look like.
Oppo has reported that the Reno 5 Pro+ will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor inside. This is an interesting choice because, after the launch, the Reno 5 Pro+ will be one of this year’s flagships before Xiaomi launches the M11 series later this month. The Xiaomi M11 will be the first smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset that was revealed earlier this month. Oppo is also one of the brands that revealed the Snapdragon 888 SoC powered phone, but its phone will arrive early next year.
Other specifications of the Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ include a 6.55-inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor developed by Oppo in partnership with Sony, a 13MP telephoto camera, a 16MP ultra-wide camera, a 32MP selfie camera, and a 65W fast battery charge. These specifications are very close to what the Reno 4 Pro has brought, but the processor is what makes the Reno 5 Pro+ stand out in the entire series.
