Let’s do an in-depth comparison between the most popular Honor Band 6 and the newly launched Realme Band 2.
With the rise of the pandemic, many people started to concentrate on fitness-related activities which is a good thing. This eventually made people buy fitness trackers which keep track of the exercises we do. This surely reflected on sales of wearables which found a Year on Year growth of 170% in Q1 2021, according to the IDC report. Currently, the Indian market is flooded with tons of fitness trackers fr various brands. But there are only a few established players here in this market like Huawei/Honor, Xiaomi, Fossil, etc., Now, Realme is slowly trying to penetrate with the latest releases.
This week Realme released its second generation of Realme Band called Band 2. This looks like a significant upgrade over its predecessor and comes at a price of Rs.2,999. Around this price range Honor Band 6 is getting some popularity due to its diverse capabilities and stunning design which attracts budget buyers. So it’s worth comparing both of these fitness trackers so that you can take an informed decision.
Realme Band 2 Vs HONOR Band 6:
Design-wise both of the bands feature a rectangular design which gives more display area. But Band 6 provides full view experience while Band 2 will have some bezels at the bottom due to its 259.8×24.6×12.1mm dimensions than the band 6’s 43 × 25.4 × 10.45 mm dimensions despite the fact that both feature an exact display size of 1.4inch. Also, band 6 weighs lighter (just 18g) than the latter(27.3g) by 9.3g.
The display is the most important part of the fitness tracker since we use fitness trackers constantly indoors and outdoors. Here, Band 6’s 1.47inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 194×368 pixels is preferred over Band 2’s 1.4inch LCD display with a resolution of 167×320 pixels. The peak brightness of Realme Band 2 is 500nits while the brightness data of Honor Band 6 is unknown. So on the whole display-wise, I’ll prefer AMOLED over LCD especially on wearables.
Ok, let’s move to an important part of this comparison which is the features this band offers for the price. Realme Band 2 can track upto 90 Sports modes including Outdoor walk, Outdoor cycle, Indoor run, Basketball, Spinning, Pool swimming, Outdoor run, Elliptical, Indoor Walk, Free training, but note that primarily there will be only 14 modes available and the claimed 90 Sports mode will be available via OTA update. Other than this fitness tracking it provides Stress monitoring, Find my Phone option, Weather Forecast, Alarm, Music control, Timer, Camera control, Stop Watch, Sleep quality analysis
Call Notification, Message Reminder, Alarm Reminder, and Call Notification which might come in handy during everyday use.
On the other hand, HONOR Band 6 can track 10 different workout modes such as Outdoor running, Indoor running, Outdoor walking, Outdoor cycling, Indoor cycling, Free training, a Rowing machine, Elliptical machine, Indoor walking on which it can automatically detect 6 workouts by itself. This band uses HUAWEI TruSeen 4.0 technology for accurate heart rate monitoring, HUAWEI TruSleep 2.0 for sleep tracking, and HUAWEI TruRelax stress tracking, Menstrual cycle tracking. Functions like music playback control, remote camera shutter, find your phone, and other useful features make your daily tech life more enjoyable.
A higher number of workout modes on Realme is a good advantage but at the same time if you’re happy with the primary 10 modes on Honor you’ll be happy with it. Surely it might vary from person to person, so take decision accordingly.
Battery life is another important thing when it comes to fitness trackers. In this department, HONOR will take a lead since it provides 14 days (180mAh) of battery life which is 2 days more than the claimed battery life of Realme Band 2 (204mAh). To be frank, most of the bands won’t touch the claimed battery life so keeping that in mind we can expect a battery life of upto 8-10 days on Band 2 while we can expect 10-12 days on Band 6. As per our testing of Honor Band 6, it lasts for around 10 days while we are yet to test Realme’s so no comments about it.
Both of the bands offer water-resistant of upto 50m while HONOR has tested this at 5ATM but Realme didn’t mention atmospheric pressure. So you don’t have to worry about rain or water splashes.
Connectivity and App Support:
Realme Band 2 comes with Bluetooth 5.1 and can connect to the Android version of 5.1+ and iOS device of version iOS 11+. Native Realme Link app is suggested for syncing the band data.
HONOR Band 6 comes with Bluetooth 5.0 version and can connect to Android Version 5.0 or above and the iOS version of iOS 9 or above. When it comes to App support you’re suggested to use the Huawei Health App (Link) to sync and visualize the data of the tracker. Further, you can sync data of Huawei Health with Google Fit and Apple Health. If your person uses Strava you’ll be disappointed since the direct way of syncing health data with the Strava app isn’t available. Don’t worry we have made a video to solve this problem which will be helpful to you.
Honor Band 6 was priced at Rs.3,999 (Rs. 2,999 during Flipkart Big Billion Days sale) at the time of launch and it comes with Meteorite Black, Seagull Grey, and Coral Pink colors. Realme Band 2 is priced at Rs. 2,999 and it comes in only black color. So you have to buy straps separately if you need some other color for band 2.
Conclusion: Which one to choose?
When it comes to decision making, we would prefer HONOR Band 6 over Realme Band 2 because of the fact that it offers a better AMOLED Screen, bigger battery life, and last but not least the company’s establishment and iterations in this field of fitness bands. So we can expect overall good accuracy and experience on Band 6. With that being said this question might arise, Shouldn’t I go with realme? Of course, you can go, if your budget constraint of paying an extra Rs. 1000. Realme also offers similar specs and features but with some cuts here and there.
We’ll suggest you wait for this upcoming Flipkart’s Big Billion Days sale where there will be a price cut for Band 6 where comes at just Rs.2,999 which is definitely a steal deal over the competitors. So it’s worth a wait till the 3rd of October.
